COMMERCIAL MUSIC COURSE DESCRIPTION
Commercial Music (P)
This course shall introduce students to the vast array of music technology with an emphasis on music production. Students study the Apple Logic Pro software and learn the basics of audio and MIDI recording and sequencing. Utilizing the voice, acoustic instruments, virtual instruments and digital effects, students learn how to perform digital multitrack recording and audio engineering. Students also learn songwriting skills, DJ skills, and how to move a song from ideas to tracking to mixing to mastering. Students will learn how the elements of music, including notation, rhythm, pitch, form, melody, and Common Practice harmony, help to convey meaning and mood in music. THIS COURSE MEETS THE UC/CSU "VPA" REQUIREMENT.
