In this fun and hands-on course, you'll learn the basics of working with clay through hand-building and using the potter’s wheel. You'll also explore ways to decorate your work, learn key art terms, discover a bit of ceramics history, and see how people turn their passion for clay into careers.
 
THIS COURSE MEETS THE UC/CSU "VPA" REQUIREMENT.
 

CERAMICS 2 COURSE DESCRIPTION

Prerequisite - Ceramics 1
 
Ceramics 2 builds on foundational skills, focusing on more advanced hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Students refine their craftsmanship, explore surface design and glazing, and develop more personal, creative projects while learning to plan, revise, and complete functional and sculptural pieces.
 
THIS COURSE MEETS THE UC/CSU "COLLEGE PREP ELECTIVE" REQUIREMENT.
 

CERAMICS 3 COURSE DESCRIPTION

Prerequisite - Ceramics 2
 
Ceramics 3 class builds on advanced skills from Ceramics 2, emphasizing independent project development and personal artistic voice. Students refine complex hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, experiment with surface treatments and glazing at a higher level, and create cohesive bodies of work that demonstrate creativity, craftsmanship, and conceptual thinking.
