Grades:  10-12          10 Credits/Year-long course

 

Recommended:  Successful completion of Honors Precalculus (including an 80% test average each semester); teacher recommendation

 

This course covers first semester college calculus.  Topics covered include:  functional analysis; limits; derivatives of functions; applications of the derivative; integration; applications of the integral; transcendental functions; exponential and logarithmic functions; and elementary differential equations.

A score of 4 or 5 on the AP Exam in AP Calculus AB will give one semester or one-quarter of college calculus credit.  (A passing score of 3 is usually rewarded one semester of one-quarter of college elective credit.)

This course covers first-year college calculus. Topics covered include: functional analysis; limits; derivatives of functions;applications of the derivative; integration; applications of the integral; transcendental functions; exponential and logarithmic functions; and elementary differential equations; arc length and area; polar, vector, and parametric functions, derivatives, and integrals; and sequences and series.

 

A score of 4 or 5 on the AP Exam in AP Calculus BC will give one year of college calculus credit.   Colleges determine how to credit a passing score of 3 independently.  An AP Calculus AB sub-score is also given.  If the student does not earn a high enough grade on the BC exam, but has an AB sub-score of 4 or 5, the student may earn one-semester or one-quarter of college calculus credit.
